August 28, Such a Beautiful Day

This morning dawned much cooler than we have seen lately. We had no need for the a/c over night, either. But it was really a gorgeous morning! Jeff got an early start, as we were going to try to make an RV park in a distant town.

Once again, there were many interesting things along the road. Sadly, Facebook lost the last group of pics that Jeff uploaded, and he has since deleted them from his phone. So, I will give you what we have.

Little blue flowers all over your yard. Nice!

I wonder which year the ox roast will be?

Nice war memorial.

It's not even September yet! He looks happy waiting, though.

Someone didn't think they were fresh enough using this I guess!

First goat in a while, and he is about to climb the fence!

This is a very popular motif!

First horses in a while, too. And pretty ones!

Nice bench, but I don't think they expect it to be used for sitting!

Jeff always manages to find the fire station in a town. And sometimes, there are people there!

Jeff noticed an interesting thing today, passing by all the farmhouses. Many of them do not have walks up to the front porch, which made him wonder if they are not used to having people knock on their door? Or they don't want anyone knocking? Odd. There are a lot of houses like that!

And this is the style we are seeing a lot of. I don't
know what it is called.

This one doesn't even have a porch for the door!

And I truly love that all these farmers have the obligatory big red barn! There have been some awesome barns that we have passed.

The weather continued to be amazing all day! It was so cool by the end of the day, once the sun went down, that I actually put on a long sleeve shirt! We ended up having more luck finding the RV park that I had spied out for us. It was a couple miles off the highway, but it was nice. There was a little lake, and a lot of pretty nice little RV campers that apparently spent the season out there. And they all had lights around their camp, which all seemed to flicker over the water of the lake. We weren't lucky enough, for one night, to get a lake spot, but it was fine. And then it was too cool to use the a/c! Didn't I say that would happen?

One other thing that happened. In the middle of the night, Jeff took the dogs out to potty. While he was fooling around with the younger ones on the leash, Pinkie decided to take off cross country for some odd reason! It was pitch black out there, so we grabbed a couple flashlights and went looking for her. She had covered quite a distance! I have no idea what she was thinking. At least she went to the road and followed it. Since she is so old, and blind, and I'm thinking half deaf now, we never leash her. She doesn't move fast enough to make a difference. Unless to take your eyes off her, apparently! Hope she enjoyed her little adventure. I was sure she had fallen in the lake! Thank goodness Jeff found her.

And there is no shortage of interesting Mailbox of the Day candidates around here. The creativity and ingenuity of people amazes me!

There must be more mailbox baseball out here.
