September 9, Kicked Out of Walmart

After our second night in a Walmart parking lot, we headed east again out of Phillipsburg, NJ. I wasn't really prepared for the fact that the towns were almost one right after the other, with little rural area to speak of any longer. We did go through several townships. Actually, they have a different way of calling things out here. I think that the townships might be a county, then there are towns and boroughs within those. It confused us both in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

There were still lots of trees, but not that much space separating anything.

As the population becomes more dense, so does the yard art! Still no shortage of interesting and creative people!

I wonder how they mow???

Another herd of fake sheep!

Apparently they would rather be at the beach!

Jeff did come across a couple of things on the road. How about this for a slogan? "What's not in YOUR wallet any more?"

Found a little flower on the curb hanging on and blooming.

With all those little towns, there was no shortage of fire stations to visit. The issue in New Jersey is that most of them, something like 93%, are volunteer! Not always anyone to talk to.

We seem to be getting into an area where there are a lot of homes renovated to its former glory. I guess as we get closer to the city, it is easier for the wealthy to make that commute. Some are very nice! There also seems to be quite a few more new housing areas, with nice large family homes.

This one reminds me of the south, maybe even New Orleans.

This one still needs adopted!

Still love the yellow houses!

The colorful Victorians all came from Washington.

As it was getting dark, we started investigation places to stay for the night. As we crossed into and through Morristown, I was watching for a park or wide spot. Sadly, as the population is more dense, there is nothing out there! There are no RV camping facilities through this area, either. I checked the book, and there was no Walmart in Morristown. With no parking signs everywhere, I wasn't sure what we would do. Then we noticed there was a Walmart in Cedar Knolls, just east of Morristown. We pulled in and watched for signage indicating it was not allowed. Not seeing any, we found a place in the back, as the lot was crowded, and had dinner. Just as we finished, the local security guy showed up and very nicely  indicated that we were not allowed to park there overnight. So, off we went in the dark, still looking. I drove up the route a few miles hoping to find something. I found something all right. Newark after 10pm. I don't recommend driving through there. We hooked a couple of turns and got on an interstate going back west, still looking. Never found even a motel we could park in. By now it is midnight, and knowing that Jeff has at least 1 full day of running ahead of him, we were both exhausted. We finally gave up and drove the last 30 miles to the RV park in Jersey City, where we had reservations for the next 2 nights. We decided it was not really an RV park, but and RV parking lot with electricity and water! We both fell asleep instantly!

Even with all the issues we had, Jeff was still able to find some fine Mailbox of the Day pics!
