July 11, Into Craig

Today started out early. Jeff was gone by 6 am and I was already awake! I guess that is what happens when you go to bed with the sun. You ultimately wake up earlier! Got the coffee and shower done, but there was really nothing else to do. Certainly no place to dump the tanks or get fresh water out here. We will probably drive to Craig after quitting for the day, simply to take care of some of those "house-keeping" items, and find some internet. We have great service, but it is not AT&T and they have threatened to cut off our data if we continue using "other providers". Might be time to look into another carrier. They are really wearing me out!

It is a beautiful morning! The sun is shining, but there are some clouds out there. Not enough to make much of a difference, but perhaps they will gather later in the day. We have discovered also, that the breeze that picks up mid day, usually dies out when the sun goes down. Makes for some tough sleeping in this coach with crappy air conditioning. By that, I mean that it does not work. It really won't cool the place down at all. I don't know what we are going to do when we hit the Midwest. I guess just not sleep much.

We made it to a little town called Maybell mid afternoon. The clouds were beginning to come together a bit, and we are hoping for a cooling down. Maybell was not a large town. I didn't even see a grocery, although there probably was one. But there were some interesting places, just the same!

Some of these things are just plain hard to pass up!

Not sure... cute, but sort of impractical!

No one home...
The "general" convenience store didn't qualify as a
grocery to me....
The Road Ahead was looking like it was in Colorado, with lots of rolling hills and some mountains in the distance. It may look like this for a long ways.

But the scenery is still stunning, as expected!

There is even a river shot for today! The Yampa River. There is a lot of irrigation off the river, too.

We also came a cross a couple of roadside flowers.

Not sure what these are.
It was interesting to see some blooming cactus,
even if the blooms were pretty spent.

Jeff didn't really find any curious or interesting items on the side of the road here either. But, what he did find is pretty funny. At least to us...

I'm not sure what this says about Coloradoans!  Sort of like
leaving the 13th floor off a building....
We ended up driving into Craig in order to find a place to stay the night. There was an RV  park just the other side of town, so we went to check it out. We sorely needed internet! Not only was the RV park a bit expensive, but a lady told me the electricity had been out for a while. I think they were working on it, but we decided that the Walmart parking lot was fine. We went back to find free internet. No Starbucks, but we did find a Village Inn that had it. Took the computer in, ordered coffee, and wasted over an hour in there! Even had to plug into their outlet.... They were not busy and I don't think they minded. Got one blog done, uploaded some pics, and got ready to do this one. Sadly, I am back on my AT&T 4G, which will run out before the end of the billing cycle. This is not looking good! I guess it is all the videos and pics that we have been uploading. Oh, well. We will figure it out! Don't want to disappoint our readers!

We had a nice thunder storm around bedtime. It cooled things off quite well, and it was really cool listening to the rain on the roof of the RV. Dogs didn't care for it, though. It seems Zilly is scared of the umbrella, and does not like to go out in the rain!

One of the other things we have noticed in Colorado, one that really surprises both of us, is the lack of imagination when it comes to mailboxes! Not much originality.... maybe that will change as we get closer to larger towns?
