We headed out after getting the coach ready for the day. We were just meandering towards Albany. There we are supposed to meet up with a couple marathoners and head north to Schroon Lake for the Adirondack marathon on Sunday.
Our first stop was a town called Lenox. We were told it was very quaint with lots of shopping. Well, we didn't stay long. You can see below what we liked there....

Town Hall. |
Adjacent fire station. We should have walked over. |
Memorial obelisk. |
Cute dog poo bag dispenser. |
Fun name. |
With a hidden entry! |
Really cool stone church. |
Lots of stacked stone wall fences. |
Then we passed through a town in Connecticut. Norwich, I think. There were plenty of interesting things to take pics of, but there was no place to pull over, park, or even turn around. When we passed the war memorial park, I told Jeff to hop out, and I would get back to him. All the towns have these, but we have made a habit of photographing them when we can.
We passed a couple other things along the way.
Unusual church. |
The Bacon Academy....lol. |
Not sure what the business was.... big ceramic turkey out front! |
Another thing that we just stumbled upon, but following road signs, was the Connecticut Firefighters Memorial. It was situated way back behind the airport, right on the grounds of the State Fire Academy. It was pretty cool. They had a great little gift shop, too. I re-acquainted myself with the current edition of Building Construction for the Fire Service! Lol....

You can't really see the eternal flame. |
A piece of the towers. |
LODD 1848. |
This one is easier to read. 1852. |
Lego! |
Love the lamp! |
Ties.... |
Really wanted the wind vane. |
Drill. Tower. |
There are still tons of really cool homes out there. It is interesting to see which towns have the resources to actually do a lot of renovation, and which don't. Then try to figure out why the town is doing better or worse than others. Really, we have no clue. It is clear that the economy in Texas is doing a bit better than many of these other states. Hopefully, that will change.
We had a good day with no where really to be. Late afternoon, we started thinking about where to stop for the night. We ended up in a somewhat remote little RV park in Vermont, called Pine Hollow Campground. It was great! And, we actually got there in the daylight, which was really cool. We were able to walk around the little pond a few times, and talk to a couple of the other folks there. There were just a few spots taken, but there was a steady stream of new RVer's coming in, up until after 10!

I loved the colors in this shot. See us over there? |
I really liked the fountain, too! It ran until late. |
There we are again. The fountain was also lit in the evening. |
While we were meandering, we did actually manage to find a couple of really great Mailbox of the Day shots!
P-40? Cool Mailbox! |
