After staying in Kremmling, in a lot behind the local mercantile and grocery, we woke up to Jeff's Birthday! Of course, he was gone early, headed out through town after backtracking a bit. Sometimes we just can't find a suitable spot to stop for the night without driving a bit. As long as we make up the miles, it is all good!
Kremmling was an interesting small town. Once we got going that morning, we discovered that it was larger than first thought. As with all small towns here, there are tons of interesting things around.
Red White and Blue Moonshine! No, we didn't try it! |
Lots of wood carvings. |
Notice the carved wood on the sign.... |
One of the interesting things about Kremmling was the proximity to the headwaters of the Colorado River. Another beautiful river in this part of the country. Really, they are all beautiful!
But, before we left town, we stopped at Jilly's for lunch and ice cream! If you are ever in Kremmling, please stop there. The burgers were very good, and the soft serve was the best I've had!
While passing through town, Jeff of course made some new friends! This guy was a farmer, but also an ultra marathoner! They talked running.... lol...
These ladies gave Jeff an apple. People are so great! |
On the road out of town, we passed a place that sold bison. A farm, basically. Jeff ran up and bought some, so that we could have bison steaks for his birthday, along with the Colorado wine he bought in town.
The wine was interesting. |
The bison steaks pretty tough... but the salad was great! |
This couple are crossing America on their bikes. He is from Spain and she is from Italy. They were nice, we stopped and talked to them for a while.
Of course, more beautiful scenery. How could there not be???
The cows came towards him instead of running away! |
The road ahead.... |
And, he was able to find both a flower of the day and a Mailbox of the Day! Happy Birthday, Jeff!
