Today dawned very nice, another unseasonably cool day in the Midwest! There was a good overcast sky, but no rain to speak of. Somewhat humid, but temps are making up for it!
Not much really to speak of for today. It was quiet. We stayed at one of the nicest RV parks last night we have found so far. Deer Creek RV Park in Topeka. Then we headed out highway 24 towards KC. We are finding more rivers and creeks with water in them here. The water isn't crystal clear, but then this is farmland.
Jeff discovered a few things on the road today. Overall, it was a good day. I found propane on the way into Lawrence. And we passed a big teepee building, that I guess is used for special events or rental. Really cute...

Who needs golf balls when you can find a basketball on the road?? |

Continuing the shoe theme. Not sure what the story on the baskets could be! |

See the firefighter on the right? Cool statuary! |
The highlight of the day, of course, was visiting our nephew, Gregor Clayton, and his daughters Ashley and Mariah. We had dinner with them, along with our friend, Matt Manning, at the Frontier Steakhouse, Dennis, the owner, hung out until we were done chatting after they closed. The food is good, so check it out when in the KC area. It is on highway 24 on the west side, near the Legends complex.

We stayed the night at Gregor's house. He was nice enough to give up his own bedroom to us, and he took the couch! It was great to be in a/c!
Sadly, there are no Mailbox of the Day photos for today. But I will leave you with a flower of the day, and a coal train! There are tons of those out here, and we are now back near the railroad tracks!
